About the Heartwood School of Art

Welcome to the Heartwood School of Art, a fine art and craft school located on the rolling farm land of Ohio. Heartwood is both a physical place and a visual art, educational service for the rural counties of West Central Ohio and beyond. The mission of this new school is to: 1. Provide a private art education and training for children with an aptitude for visual art by providing them with an art-centered environment for learning and teachers who are professional artists. 2. Offer senior art internships or apprenticeships for college students who are majoring in fine arts and need the experience of working in the studio and business of a professional artist or for art education majors who need the experience of teaching art to young children. 3. Cater to the adult student who has found new time to follow a life-long yearning for visual art study. 4. Provide a "remedial" classical study of traditional art basics to the post-graduate who feels that he or she did not learn certain design or material art skills in their college or university program. 5. Offer the art educator a chance to develop his or her concepts and techniques as an artist apart from the institutional demands and methodologies of teaching. |
